Digital and Paper Holiday Greetings
Happy December, wonderful people,
This week, my ponderings revolved around digital vs. print/paper.
I am one of those types of people who stick with many traditions, especially when it comes to the holidays, and one of my greatest pleasures is sending Christmas Cards.
I always send as many as possible. As many as my hands will allow me to write, and my bank account as well. This year, the cards will still be hand-signed, but more will be addressed with labels.
I will still have as many paper and ink cards as I possibly can, however, if you don't receive one this year and you want one, please know it was not for any intentional reason.
There is nothing like receiving a Christmas Card in the mail. It's still special! Even when you are as old as I am.
I surveyed some friends and fellow Realtors for their thoughts about this. Many were more business-oriented when discussing the effectiveness of the internet. So when dealing with important papers, maybe it's best, but that wasn't what my question was. My aim was to research and decide if handwritten Christmas Cards are worth it.
They are to me. I get a lot of joy working on them. Thinking of little notes and passing old traditions down, even if the kids roll their eyes at me.
Most agreed that a personal touch is best when it's handwritten. I even consulted AI. She said, "Sending Christmas cards is a thoughtful gesture that is generally appreciated by recipients. While digital communication is more common today, the act of sending a physical card is often seen as more personal and meaningful.
My new AI friend said people still appreciate receiving Christmas cards to help stay connected and the joy of giving and receiving. I agree with my new AI friend.
Staying Connected: Cards are a simple way to maintain connections with friends and family you may not see often, letting them know you are thinking of them during the holidays.
Joy of Giving and Receiving: The act of sending cards likely makes you happy because the tradition fosters a sense of connection and holiday spirit. The same joy is often felt by those who receive them. Many people enjoy the tradition of opening their mailboxes and finding something personal amidst the bills.
I know I do. I got my first Christmas card yesterday. It's from a friend in California. Her card is always a letter and always a picture, and always the first one we receive!
Now that my hands are warmed up from typing this, I'll start working on those cards! Please send me your thoughts or your address, and I'll send you a card too!
Tonight is the traditional tree lighting and downtown Grove holiday festivities, and the fire department Christmas party. Let the festivities begin! Much more is happening this year than last.
I'll be wearing many hats this weekend!
Which was another discussion: how do I sign my cards?
City Councilwoman? Realtor? Captain's wife,
Mimi... or Peggy
Although I am proud and appreciative of all, I think Peggy wins!
Until next time,
