Coffee Houses add value to the community

I recently read on one of the Real Estate blogs that homes near a coffee shop will increase the value of those homes. Our homes in downtown Grove are surrounded by good coffee shops. And they are all in walking distance. If only more people would get out and walk. And if only Oklahoma roads had wider shoulders to encourage more walking.  And since we drive more than walk, I think all of these downtown cafe's add another value. They give Grand Lakers a place to stop for something to eat and drink on their way to go fishing or boating. And they offer a place to grab a bite to eat before heading home after a long day on the boat.

Coffee bar and help yourself drinks at Jiffy.
Anyway, we have Jiffy & 6th Street Diner, Drakes, Checkered Past and recently lost Café Yumm to a fire (I heard the most recent managers of Café Yumm plan to open a new café’ not far from it’s previous location. More to come on that later).

And if you go just a little further to Third Street we have Goodfellas, 1909 and Martin’s (La Casita de Martin).  Another block further and you’ll find three additional hometown favorites and four chain restaurants.  The awesome news is when we drove by these places today, the parking lots were full. It’s March and “the season” is here!

Mango house on Broadway.
I am so excited with the Downtown Revitalization and excited to see new construction down the street. I’m also excited to see all the renovations happening in Grove. From the Mango house on Broadway (my husband calls it Sherbet) to the old drilling company rumored to be a new gym.  The Wax Bucket is getting some fresh paint and the list keeps growing!

Did you know Hott Box just moved to the Old Catfish John’s? Yep, and it’s as adorable or more adorable than it was at Bryants Corner. There is amazing free-hand paintings on the wall and barn wood and ranch motif  and I’ll do another blog about all of that. The artist is one of the waitresses and quite talented.
Hott Box Owners  Candace and Brandon Bronaugh
put an open sign out at their new location.

The Sixth Street Apartments are getting a redo also. I’ll have to get more information on that and let you know when they plan to be finished and start renting.

Grove business is growing as is our real estate sales which is up approximately 12 % in the Grove Area.

Let’s keep the positive momentum going.  Renovations are contagious! How many times have you seen a neighbor do something cool to their yard and then see another neighbor do something as well. Everyone wants their community to look nice, and people like living in a community they feel they belong to.

Spring is almost here! We “Spring Forward” this weekend. It's also Grove Spring Open House this weekend. Check it out on Facebook. I’m hoping to get to some of the sales and over to the Grand Lake Boat Show at the Civic Center, also this weekend and on Facebook.

I can’t leave you without a sales pitch. Don’t forget I am a Realtor after all and this story is about homes. Please call or text or email if you want to see any of the homes for sale at the lake. And same goes with suggestions or comments.

Hope to see you out and about enjoying our wonderful little town.
Peggy
