Marcie and Bracklen - an inspiration and proof that most people are good!

I have a feel-good story to share! 

I try to find the good in everyone and trust that most people are good at heart. I believe that if I am good to them they will naturally be the same in return.

I know, “how naive is that?” Especially now that I have experienced my own scary moments as a female Realtor showing property alone. It’s actually stupid more than naïve but it’s how I roll. Good thing I have Captain Steed to protect me most of the time!

In case you didn’t know, I am now working at Keller Williams in Grove (lots of moving, another story for another time).

The story of Marcie and Bracklen - an inspiration and proof that most people are good!

A couple of weeks ago, there were several of us chatting in the entryway at the office and Marcie Hill, an agent at Keller Williams tells us what happened to her the night before.

She was finishing up with clients. It was 5:30 pm when she heard someone enter the front door.

Her first concern was why was the door unlocked? She thought the last person that left had locked it. Her clients offered to stay until they knew she was safe. Waiting and listening in Marcie’s office the clients hear the man tell his story. 

He is a 89-year man from Denmark. He tells Marcie that he is walking across America and actually holds the record for doing so in 111 days.

He says his name is Bracklen and he wondered if she knows of a hotel he could stay in for less than $40 because that was all that he had. He said his things had been stolen and he would normally stay outside somewhere, but he was cold and really wanted a shower.

Marcie’s clients look him up on their phones while Marcie continues to talk to the older gentleman. Her clients were surprised to tell Marcie that Bracklen was legitimate. They found him on the internet and he was actually telling the truth!

Bracklen is the only name he goes by and comes from a small village in Denmark with no electricity where nothing bad ever happens. He also said that although he has seen bad on his journey, he also met some wonderful people he wishes he could take back to Denmark with him.

Marcie then takes Bracklen to a nearby hotel, pays for his room and gives him money for food. He tries to give her the $40 he has but she told him to keep it.

It goes to show that there are some good people in the world still and Marcie and Bracklen are two of them. 

Way to go Marcie! I am so happy to know you girl!!!
