Spring Gardens and Chickens

Hello all! There's about 6 inches of snow on the ground today and the sun is shining brightly but fooling us into believing we should go out and play! The temperature outside this afternoon has finally warmed up to a swelting 15 degrees! My grandson's are getting tired of coming to their Mimi's house. I think I am finally boring. Even my four year-old going on 10 is difficult to entertain now. I finally gave him my phone, Bluey is on the tv, the other two are entertained somewhere in the house (I'm afraid to go look and ruin the quiet) while I have a minute of peace to get on my computer and look at and catch up on emails. The first email the pops up is from Country Living Magazing with a story about how Winter is almost over. Again I look up from my computer to zhiver at the six inches of snow and pretend warmth the sumshine gives off. I want to plant an edible garden and a few pollinating plants for our poor bees and butterflies and then, whatever it takes to keep mosquitoes and ticks out of my yard. I plan to do some serious research about this.
I also plan to get some chickens because, not only will we have eggs, but I heard the chickens will eat the bugs. Now I will have to research how to make the dogs be friends with the chickens. Lucky for me, I have friends who have this all figured out already. Unfortunately for my husband there's some pretty cool chicken coops out there. I can't wait to go shopping! And yes, we can have a few chickens in town but no roosters. I think I will get a rooster for my daughter since she lives out in the country! Oh fun! But for now, the snow is still there. I just wrote about spring and didn't mention the lake or the boat. It's still too cold for that. More dreaming, more coffee and back to emails and Real Estate... Until next time... Peggy

Gray Hairs & Love

My age is starting to hit me and not necessarily in a bad way. I’m 56. It sent shivers up my spine when I wrote that just now. Not in an “oh God I’m old” way, but in a “wow, I can’t believe it” way. My future hair In the last 6 months, I started having panic attacks, bought a pair of bifocal glasses, and started planning my retirement. I also decided to give up the bi-weekly hair appointments to cover the gray and just embrace it. We’ll see how long that lasts, but for now, white, platinum hair is in! I’m not talking about retirement savings. I’m talking about mental retirement. Relaxing. Actually relaxing and being happy. I recently read an article in AARP, yes that over 50 magazine, that showed me that Roman and I are going to be ok in retirement. I’m ready for the next chapter. Here’s my plan. Lake House Names

 I woke up early today thinking about our Lake House project.  It's been in the works for a couple of years and it's slowly coming together. View from a home at Grand Lake I recently toured. I have plans and pictures from magazines in a three-ring binder. I have a Pinterest Board for the Steed Lake House and recently, I got the go-ahead from my husband! Today I decided to give it a good name! Every memorable place I have stayed has a memorable name.  Since we bought the property from my husband Roman's mother, Phyllis, we usually refer to it as Mom's House. We could build off of that and make it homey and comfortable. I do plan to have a big open kitchen/family room/fireplace area with lots of windows and a casual dining area.  There's no need for formal dining because in a lake house there needs to be plenty of space for card games, puzzles, drawing and coloring.
