Snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Barn on 7th Street
Hello everyone!
Have you been watching the forecast? Get ready for some SNOW!
I love snow and can’t wait for it to come this weekend. Some of my favorite memories and pictures are from snowy days here, like the old barn down the street. It’s so peaceful and timeless. The barn is beautiful, and I need to thank them over and over again for saving it. I love what the owners have done to the old original house and property.

But back to snow!
According to AI, Loving snow, a trait sometimes called being a chionophile, means finding joy, peace, or magic in winter landscapes, often linked to childlike fun, quiet beauty, or a chance to slow down from daily stress. It can represent purity, new beginnings, or the coziness of winter activities, activating a sense of wonder and nostalgia for simpler times, says Stylist and Time Magazine. Ok, fine. I am a chionophile. Joy and peace? Count me in!
Dirt road in Grove covered in snow

Snow is why I will always own a Jeep. My Jeep loves the snow as much as I do. She does so well getting me everywhere I want to go. It’s important to note here that she does especially well when I am driving, not my husband, Mr. Need For Speed. Snow makes Grand Lake magical. Everywhere you look becomes postcard-perfect. Leafless trees take on a whole new beauty, especially when ice forms on their branches or heavy snow weighs them down.

Our local photographers brave the snow and capture its beauty. They post it on Facebook and social media. I know RC Livesay sells his as well as posts, so I don't want to post and break copyright rules. www.rclivesayfineart.com You should look them up. Scott Gallagher and Dave Wagenblatt also get wonderful photos of the scenery and nature. If you get too cold and start digging a rabbit's hole on your phone, look at their and others' photos!

I occasionally get out with my iPhone and see the beauty, but it’s impossible to truly capture. The silence. Complete lack of sound except for snow falling from a branch or a bird chirping. In town, in my backyard, in the country. I’ve been in the snow in many places, and I highly recommend experiencing it for silence and calm.

Now, as most of my readers know, I have three rambunctious grandsons, and when the snow falls its all about snowball fights and who can build the best snowman. Game on! Look out, Mimi!
Yes, I am a target. No free passes for this old lady. Extra layers aren’t just for the cold weather. I need to go shopping for last-minute snow pants and boots that no longer fit. Will they take that into consideration as they beam me with snowballs when I get out of the car? No! Do they even care where the snowpants that are keeping them warm and dry came from? No, because they would be out in the snow with or without them. The oldest one always tells me he only wears them because I am cold. What a sweetheart! Happy snow days, my friends! May you stay warm and dry and have peace and joy watching it fall. Warm cheers!
